About Us

O’Brien and Sons Construction is a  family owned and operated Custom Home Builder founded in 2006. Rob O’Brien founded the company prior to exiting the Marine Corps after 11 years of service. Rob decided after returning from Iraq in 2005, where he built a simple home for his unit, that it was time for a career change.  Rob is now a licensed general contractor with four years of experience building quality homes for satisfied customers. 

In early 2007, Rob’s Father, Bob retired in Massachusetts and moved south to join the business. Bob brought decades of building experience and knowledge with him.

We are members of the Onslow and Carteret County Home Builder Associations, the North Carolina Home Builders Association and the National Association of Home Builders. We have a Carpentry Apprenticeship program approved by the North Carolina Department of Labor and the Department of Veterans Affairs. We are a Certified Home Builder by the Department of Veterans Affairs as well.
